Girl Reading by Katie Ward

I have decided to give up on this book. I was trying to make myself finish it but I just can't. The more I force it, the more difficult it is to read. I'm not sure what I don't like about it; it has all the things I should like. But there's just something missing (other than inverted commas around speech, it's set out like it's indirect speech but is in actual fact direct speech.... it's very distracting. And annoying).

Perhaps going to restart Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy by Le Carre, or Several Perceptions by Angela Carter.
